The construction industry is evolving and so is its workforce. Historically, construction has been a male dominated industry.
Fast forward to today, women are key members of the now progressive, gender-balanced business. The construction industry is transitioning into a more diverse and inclusive workspace. 1/1Oth of every construction worker in the US is female. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the construction industry can expect to see a 12% growth of employment from women alone.
Although it is more difficult for women to start a career in construction than their male counterparts, companies continue to advertise roles targeted toward women. Diversity and inclusion in the workplace yields innovation along with new perspectives for companies. Women are increasingly joining the construction industry and achieving leadership roles and ultimately shaping an inclusive industry.
Today, the opportunities for women in construction are limitless. Operations Managers, Owners & CEOs, and Senior Vice Presidents of construction and contracting companies are driven by women in the construction industry. Women in leadership positions also serve as mentors as they provide guidance to navigate the field and inspire new generations that construction is not just for “the boys”.
Women are trailblazing the industry, climbing the corporate ladder, and not looking back.
